“You sound so much like Cash, It's scary!”---Kris Kristofferson

At 6'5" tall and slender, dressed in all black, with that long black coat, dark hair piled high and an acoustic guitar slung over his shoulder, Steve Waddington is the definitive image of Johnny Cash in his prime! And when he steps up to the mic to sing, that big, rich, baritone voice leaves no doubt...this is about as close as it gets! Because Steve not only sounds like Johnny Cash when he sings, he plays guitar just like Johnny did...capo on the first fret, strumming near the bridge and then way up the finger board, holding the guitar up to ear level, aiming it like a rifle, or slung over his back when playing two harmonicas on “Orange Blossom Special”…all the classic Cash moves!

His band is made up of the finest musicians in the business, all working together to re-create the elegant simplicity of the Tennessee Three, to replicate the quality of the band that backed Johnny during his NBC TV days, to reproduce the sound of the original records, and to recall the raw power of his later Rick Rubin-inspired American Recordings.

All the favorites are there…from the classic era “Folsom Prison Blues”, “Ring of Fire”, “I Walk The Line”, to the whimsical “One Piece at a Time” and “A Boy Named Sue”, and even Johnny's later, more poignant hits like "Hurt", and “The Man Comes Around".

"You don't have to LIKE country music to LOVE Johnny Cash, and we LOVE Steve singing Johnny Cash!". ---Wink and Sandy Martindale

A recent career highlight came when Kris Kristofferson joined the band onstage to perform a number of his hits. Everyone...Kris, the band, the audience, and especially Steve...had a great time! After the show, in the dressing room, Kris signed one of Steve's guitars! Steve still performs with it on occasion (upon request). A truly magical evening!

All-in-all, it's an exciting, authentic, and heart-felt tribute to the legendary "Man in Black".
